Using CVS

If you're too impatient to wait for even developer releases, you can get the current version of the filer and other programs directly from CVS. This is the version that the developers are actually working on at the time.

Note that the version in anonymous CVS is updated every 5 hours from the developer CVS version, and the snapshots are generated daily from the anonymous CVS version (so may be up to 29 hours behind).

The machine that was being used to build the snapshots (tarballs and zero install) is no longer available. Therefore, the snapshots are no longer being updated! You'll have to use CVS directly, instead. Sorry... -- Thomas Leonard

• Download daily CVS snapshots
• Daily snapshots of ROX-Filer are also available through Zero Install, in /uri/0install/www.ecs.soton.ac.uk#~tal. This version will automatically download the debugging symbols if you run gdb on it.

Why are some files missing from the CVS version of ROX-Filer?

To get a complete system, you also need to create Manual.html from Manual.xml (by running make in the src/Docs directory) as well as recreate the various language translations. These files are not in CVS because they are generated from other files.

However, the daily CVS snapshots do have these files included.
