Memo is a small utility which you can use to store appointments and 'TODO' items. It displays the next few entries in a small window, and can also be instructed to bring up alert windows at set times.

If you have a D-BUS notification service available then it will use that to display alerts. Otherwise, it will use a built-in dialog box.

This configuration tool lets you configure keyboard settings, including
the keyboard layout, key repeat, cursor blinking, and keybindings.

You need to be running ROX-Session as your session manager for this to work.

Gamma

Gamma is a simple program to set the on-screen gamma correction (using
the xgamma command, installed with XFree86). You can either set the Red, Green
and Blue corrections separately, or all at once.

The Shared MIME Database stores information about file types. It holds information such as "Files with names ending in .html have the MIME type text/html" and "A text/html file should be described as an `HTML Page'".

Normally, you shouldn't need to edit this database, but if you do you can use MIME-Editor for the task.

Archive is a very easy to use program for creating and extracting file archives. For example, let's imagine you want to archive your `Mail' directory onto a zip disk:

ROX-Session

ROX-Session is a simple session manager. It loads, runs any programs you asked it to, and then quits when you run it a second time (thus ending your session). It does not display any windows until you ask it to quit.

The first time you run it it will offer to make itself your session manager, so that you'll get a ROX desktop when you log in (see screenshots below).

ROX-Session will automatically run any programs in your AutoStart directory when you log in. You can open this directory by bringing up the menu over ROX-Session's icon and choosing Auto Start....

An applet that checks multiple accounts for mail. Uses the notification daemon for popup messages if available.

It will launch your email client application if you click on it.
If a folder is empty it is not listed.
If any folder has unseen mail, the icon changes.
It will optionally play a sound when new mail arrives.

Wallpaper

Wallpaper allows you to:

  • Make a Set As Wallpaper menu item appear on the filer menu for images, to manually set the backdrop to that image.
  • Choose a random image from your collection when you log in, or at regular intervals.
  • Run another program when you log in (or at regular intervals) and use the output as the backdrop.
